Qualified Intern Candidates must meet the following requirements:
· Pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree, with a major in Computer Science, Computer Programming, MIS, Networking, Computer Hardware Support, or a field related to the internship
· Excellent organizational and communication skills
· Ability to work independently, as well as cooperate with others
· Must be willing and be available to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00am to 5:00pm.
· All summer internships are 12 weeks in length (June through August).
Summer Internships Available Include:
Computer Hardware Support Intern
The Computer Hardware Support Intern provides technical support for all stores. They troubleshoot networking issues, repair and maintain company owned computers, and provide hardware and software support to other Team Members.
Network Administrator Intern
Network Administrator interns assist the Network Administrators in the day-to-day administration, support, and ongoing enhancement of network infrastructures. Network Administrator Interns also help with the design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of networks, support servers, CISCO switches and wireless access points. Interns may travel to remote offices to assist in post network maintenance.
Programming Intern
There are many different departments and programming languages that are used within Information Systems. Some of the departments include Store Systems, Merchandise & Marketing Systems, Financials, Internet/Intranet, Point of Sales, Store Labor Scheduling, Manufacturing, andDistributionCenter. Some of the common languages that are used include Java, Visual Basic, C++, .NET, Progress, MicroStrategy, HTML, JS, JQuery, CSS, Spring, Hibernate, JMS, Mobile Application Development for both iOS and Android development. Menards Programming Intern gain valuable experience with real world applications.
Quality Assurance Intern
Quality Assurance Interns will work with Quality Assurance Developers to implement and maintain automated and manual testing procedures in support of quality assurance processes, application testing, and data analysis of software systems in a combined UNIX/Windows environment. They also provide architectural input to the overall automation testware framework using such tools such as: HP Quick Test Pro, HP LoadRunner and Rational Quality Manager.
Database Administration Intern
Database Administration Interns assist the Database Administrators in the day-to-day administration; support and ongoing enhancement of Menard, Inc.’s Database Infrastructures. They are responsible for supporting mission critical database environments to maximize system uptime and productivity. The most commonly used databases are: MySQL, Teradata Data Warehouse, Oracle RAC, and AES Encryption.
Server and Storage Intern
Server and Storage Interns assist the System Administrators in the day-to-day administration, support, and ongoing enhancement of Windows or UNIX based servers, including design, implementation, and maintenance. Interns will also make recommendations for server improvements, coordinate system installation with user departments and operations, and provide support for all related applications and Team Members (using HP-Unix and Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
