JOB REQUIREMENTS: PURPOSE OF THE POSITION Rehabilitation Workers at Riverfront, Inc. provide individualized home and community based mentoring support to adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities. This position will use a variety of Applied Behavior Analysis techniques to assist participants in skill building both in structured situations as well as in practical life situations. Teaching allows for individualized services. Support plans are customized to meet the specific needs of each participant. Skills Trainer works to ensure each participant reaches his or her full potential. The Rehabilitation Worker will work under the direction of the Behavior Support Specialist in the application of targeted behavioral practices to facilitate the development of complex skills. The Rehabilitation Worker's goal will be to increase the participant's identified skill need areas, positively impacting the participant's quality of life. All services provided will be done in the home or the community. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED A positive, playful, and engaging attitude, a passion to learn, and the desire to become a highly contributing member of the Riverfront team. Previous direct or related experience working one to one with individuals with developmental disabilities; particularly helping individuals with autism spectrum disorders. Demonstrate a basic knowledge and understanding of issues that affect people with disabilities. Must be self-motivated, responsible, honest, articulate (both verbally and written) and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Present a professional demeanor, be well organized, pay attention to detail and have excellent time management skills. Must be able to politely interact and serve diverse families. Maintain a high level of professionalism, have a strong work ethic and work well under pressure. Access to reliable non-public transportation with required insurance coverage. Access to the internet. Ability to operate computer equipment; knowledge of various software packages including Office Windows applications 2007 and above. Flexibility in scheduling. PREFERRED Two year degree in related field or applicant should be en route to an undergraduate degree with a major in psychology, child development, education or related field with at least 2 years of undergraduate education completed. Demonstrated ability to teach, train and mentor. Ideal candidate will have some experience working with typically developing children, children with autism or special needs and or adults with disabilities. Will have previous experience providing intensive in-home mentoring support. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provide direct support to participants. Demonstrate knowledge of each individual behavior support plan and demonstrate the ability to consistently and competently implement the behavior support plan. Expose individual to new ideas and choices, which assist in their continued growth and development. Carefully monitor and supervise those served. Maintain familiarity with participants to evaluate effectiveness of their goals and objectives. Act as an appropriate role model. Rehabilitation Worker, under the guidance of the Behavior Support Specialist, will teach a broad range of skill areas such communication, sociability, self-care, recreation and leisure, motor development and academic skills. Goals will emphasize skills that will enable learners to become successful in both the short and long terms. Monitor participant's general health, administer first aid when applicable, and assist with personal care needs as necessary. Activities include support the individual in following physician recommendations, advise concerning personal hygiene issues, and report any concerns to supervisor and other team members in a timely manner. Records daily documentation of participant's behaviors and actions. Complete and submit all required documentation in a timely manner.
